This is just to say, we can travel together in this nomadic existence to Korea, we mean, in a digital way, following the Korean waves on the internet.
I wanted to start a new project for this 2018, then the eureka moment came to my mind:
the idea to carry out a blog devoted to one of my hobbies... while practising my writing abilities, which I know is a neglected skill most of the days of my life.
Pondering on which one... the needle gauged on the east side of my soul.Someone hypothesized that souls have physical weight, and the scientist have not supported the practical side of it.
I will attempt here the following experiment:
My commitment to write 71 posts this year on things Korean to prove that at least ONE gram of my soul could be coming from Seoul?
A word of caution... My interests follow different sources in a handful of languages. Do not be afraid if the support of the articles may be in any Romanic language sometimes besides English.
I know that entries can blend with text in more than one language, but if I know myself a bit, this next paragraph my try to bring a biased definition:
my fatherland is Mediterranean, my native language European, my passpaort form the EU, my mind cosmopolitan, my friends mostly hyphenated, my skin peachy caramel and can concede that if the light comes from Orient a gram of my soul can be from near Korea...
The answer to my commitment, my friend, will be blowing in the 2018 wind...
To be more specific: I am a student of Eastern Asia Learning, Culture not languages, who developed a tiny interest in Korea in 2004.
Since then for the last 14 years this spark grew forth. I finished my degree on East Asia societies at UOC university in Barcelona in 2008. More about this in the following weeks.
To give several examples:
- I kept reading books on Asia, with a sweet teeth for Korea, a couple of shelves are witness of that in my library,
- my English students work a couple of weeks on something related to expats at Seoul
- and lately my family don't like me watching everyday 30-minute Breaking news on Korean arirang international television.
